Japan Internet Salary Survey

Motoko Hunt | | Asia | Japan

Softbank and Human Capital KK of Japan conducted a salary survey with 100 Internet marketers and 100 Internet sales people in Japan. The results show that the average sales person in Internet industry makes 5.40mil yen/year (about US$53K) and average marketer in Internet industry makes 5.01mil yen/year (about US$50K). It shows that people in the Internet industry make more than the average Japanese (4.35mil yen or US$43K).

The results also show that people in 30s have the most salary growth from 5.36mil yen in the early 30s to 5.79mil yen in the late 30s. It is a challenge to find a great talent in this rather new industry no matter where you are. As we see it all the time in US, poaching a good talent from each other is happening in Japan, too. And, it looks that people in this industry in Japan think they are very much under paid. Average survey participant think they should receive more than 3mil yen (about 30k) pay increase.

SEMPO is currently conducting the Search Agency Salary Survey (http://www.sempo.org/home/news/sempo_agency_salary_survey/). I'm interested to compare the results.
