SEMPO Asia will involve in industry events and conferences in Asia (China, India, Japan and Singapore) this year including AdTech, SMX and Search Engine Strategies, where many of SEMPO Asia members are asked to speak. At each event, SEMPO Asia will have a booth and a networking meeting. SEMPO members will receive some additional benefits, including discount for registration fee (discount code required).

Japan Internet Salary Survey

Softbank and Human Capital KK of Japan conducted a salary survey with 100 Internet marketers and 100 Internet sales people in Japan. The results show that the average sales person in Internet industry makes 5.40mil yen/year (about US$53K) and average marketer in Internet industry makes 5.01mil yen/year (about US$50K).

Access to video sharing sites grew 216% in Japan

The number of access to video sharing web sites grew 216% in Japan in 2007 from the previous year. According to Video Research Interactive (VRI), there were more than 24 million accesses to video sharing web sites in 2007.

Whether it is geo-based or vertically based, as the industry grows, there will be a number of opportunities for several large players to split the pie.

Google...How much more growth is there?

Peruse the numbers released by comScore this month, and it becomes evident that in terms of unique visitors internationally, Google is growing as fast as the internet itself. In France, Germany, Canada, and Japan the number of unique visitors to Google are growing at 1-2%, or even shrinking 1%. Now, when you already have 90% of the unique visitors, such as in the UK, your growth is tied to the market, and even at great risk of going counter to the market.
